The day has dawned when our lamps can eat flies and power themselves just by digesting the flies in a special way. James Auger and Jimmy Loizeau are the designers, and they’ve made several other contraptions based around the same idea.A fly-eating clock, a mouse-eating table, and a white box thing that eats spiders.

Will this develop into some walking, talking, fly-eating robot thing?
Hmm…
Let’s hope so!
For Christmas I plan to buy Joy an 8GB iPod Touch but I hardly have any money left and dad says it’s an impossibility. But I will. Christmas is still a few months away so I’ll strive as hard as I can to get the money I need. On top of that there’s the money I have to take with me to France and on top of that are the Sennheiser earphones I wanna get to replace Apple’s ones. Everyone knows they’re worse quality than Asda’s fruit and veg aisle. Thankfully, that’s only an additional £40, so overally, with the iPod at £165, it’s gonna be cheaper than I expected.
Originally, the plan was to get her an iPhone, but there are two things that stopped me doing that. First of all, she already has a phone, and watching her use it, she seems pretty savvy with it. And she might miss the full QWERTY keyboard, which she seems so comfortable with. After all, what’s a virtual, on-screen keyboard got against full-size buttons on a slide-out hard one? Nevertheless, I am arch enemies with her phone, a rather annoying LG. Annoying because it’s advertised as being touchscreen, but the only time that touchscreen works is when you’re dialling a number. It’ll do for now, hopefully.

Secondly, network troubles. Buying an iPhone in Britain and then taking it abroad could serve up problems galore. At least, that’s what I’d predict would happen, but I’ve never actually owned an iPhone and taken it to another country but I should imagine switching networks would be pretty hard… by fault of Apple’s difficult contracts.
So, an iPod Touch should be perfect, especially considering her current iPod is practically obsolete and a tad tatty. It’s nice, though – I felt all nostalgic when I saw it. Joy said herself that she needs new earphones so why not a new iPod too?
Get this – rumours are flying around that in September Apple’ll be unveiling a third-generation iPod Touch, and this one’ll tote a camera! Okay… wait… that means more cost, right? And I’d wanna get her something relatively new… people would laugh if I just got her the old one. Fingers crossed that someone will do a nice deal, maybe Currys? Or maybe Apple themselves for a change.
My eyes are peeled… I need to get this otherwise, like Martyn explained, I’ll never live it down.
I love my dad because he’s been there for me all along. I’ll never stop loving him. I’ll never stop loving Joy either. We’re perfect for one another. Today is our third month anniversary and I’d just like to express my exponential amount of love for you, baby, even though you’re away for a short break with Coraline. I hope you’re having fun and that you’re okay. I miss you quite terribly. Can’t wait for December, it’s gonna be amazing. All my neverending love to you my Juliet, my Rose, my one and only, forever!

Update
I posted a link to this post on Twitter and got a reply from a firm known as Regal Clothing, selling clothes with humorous captions.

Nice
Mac OS X Snow Leopard just hit the shelves (almost) so I’d like to proudly present to you some nice artwork from a fellow geek, Alex Benham:

This is an artist’s impression of what the next Mac OS X box design will look like, now that Apple has confirmed the operating system to succeed Snow Leopard.
Here are some of the features:
And that’s direct from Apple’s website.
More on this as it unfolds.
Note
Musafa is how Apple likes to spell Mufasa. Think different.
We’ve had:
Now we have:
Mac OS X Snow Leopard

I must say, I like the box design
Next:
Mac OS X Lynx? Cougar? Mac OS X Bigscarycatwithsharpteeth?
WHAT?!?
Apple, you’re running out of ideas. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have put Snow before Leopard and given us such a rubbish for an operating system.
Or, maybe you’re losing your touch?
I can’t wait to see what you’re gonna call Snow Leopard’s successor.
A few nice things have happened today that have made Joy and I very happy
Well, it’s made me happy anyway, and I hope that it’s made my one and only just as chuffed.
Facebook and Googlemail
Joy was looking for a way to filter all the emails she gets from Facebook so I recommended Gmail which totes countless features Hotmail lacks. So she changed her Facebook email address over to her newly-made Gmail account, only for Facebook to get totally confused about countries. Gmail is based on American servers and Joy created her account in France before I accessed it from England. Gmail can usually cope with two countries but it’s going through a rough patch lately for some reason. Well, on Firefox 3.5 installed. Or maybe I’m just making up excuses to try to shift the blame from my own accident-prone mistake?
Either way, I did my good deed for the day, and created a whole new Facebook account for my Juliet. Added all her old friends. Edited her profile to what it used to be. Even added the same profile picture! There’s only one thing that Joy has to do that I can’t, and that’s upload all her pictures, but that should be okay because she never really used captions much anyway. Not forgetting: I also managed to pimp up her Gmail account with Labs features, labels and filters while I was at it
Not boasting or anything, of course

Ooohhh... now THAT'S first class
Plane Sailing
Who would have thought getting a plane to another country and staying there for just under a month over Christmas at the age of 15 could be so easy? I didn’t… But I do now! Thanks to Elizabeth (my mother) I’m getting there free of charge because she’s paying for the air fare, giving me less to worry about and more chance to buy Joy something nice for Christmas
There is the obstacle of school, nevertheless, but considering school generally has loads of celebrations and periods of time where we just sit around watching Chicken Run in class, I’m sure they won’t mind if I do something creative with my time. If there are exams I’ll definitely be staying though, which means postponing my flight. The worst I’ll lose is a week. And there’s still November 23rd to think about
The final obstacle is where to stay. Joy has a spare room but whether or not Jane will mind me staying there or not is another matter entirely. Finger’s crossed though. Who knows? I might even be able to sleep in Joy’s bed! But no worries. I wouldn’t consider sex or anything close to it at this age. Way too young. But I doubt even the most trusting of parents would be that trusting. I don’t mind
Day One
We met for the first time in our lives, hugged for the first time, kissed for the first time, and ruined our first ice cream. But I’ve already covered that in another post. Nevertheless, I must stress that our first kiss really was something, and as Taylor’s song goes, it was fearless.
Day Two
Jane went up to London for someone’s engagement party so Joy came around for eight hours (which turned out to be nine hours because Jane was late) so we watched a movie, which doesn’t actually involve watching a movie, but doing something completely different
Day Three
We walked, hand in hand, over the common outside my house, along the seafront and then stopped at a pond. Sitting in a bench, kissing, and watching random people go and feed the swans was nice and relaxing
Afterwards, we went to the pub for a few (Cokes
)
Sitting outside (on a different bench this time) watching some kids go about their youthful shenanigans. Two girls (one very large) and a group of three others, as well as a seventh who didn’t seem to be with anyone. One of the girls was… rubbing up and down against a pole… which was both hilarious and disturbing simultaneously. The large one was wading in the water and making a right old racket.
The group of three (consisting of two boys and a girl) were just calm and quiet, but you could tell the boys were fighting over the girl. I could’ve sat there all day but I didn’t wanna be accused of being a paedophile or anything so we stood up. Everyone was staring at us. Either they were all getting aroused by us kissing or they wanted our Coke?
Day Four
We went down Gunwharf and got a huge bar of Dairy Milk chocolate from the Cadbury shop. Like, huge. Cost a whole £6.99. Yeah, that’s how big it is
Also bought some chocolate-coated strawberries and Twilight (Joy’s seen it five times but what the hell, I got it anyway). I was gonna take Joy up the Spinnaker Tower but we ended up sitting near it kissing
And finally we got a taxi home and ‘watched another movie’ for a few hours.
The Last Day (That’s Fifth)
Jane came and picked me up at around two and we tried to find Kate’s house for half an hour. Jane kept going on the wrong side of the road
And we bumped into Tom Holloway’s mother. She saw Joy and I holding hands and there was a rather embarrassing moment where she pointed out and had a little giggle etc…

When we finally found Kate’s house we entered, after being licked to death by Sully (Kate’s dog), who later had a rather enjoyable time humping my arm. Disgusting… the pain was eased when I noticed Kate wasn’t running Linux like she said (just to please Guy) but was instead using Windows XP (not a great deal better sadly). I was tempted to install Windows 7 but she never would have let me.

So we walked all around Southsea and had a right old laugh on a bench in a local garden when I came out with: ‘Miss Piggy left the room. Breakfast must have finished. The bacon ran out’. The laughter ran out too after about five minutes of helpless hysterics.

I love you, baby, so, so much <3
We returned to Kate’s house and got a few pictures before Joy and I got a taxi back to my place. Spent a couple of hours together. Jane arrived. We had to say goodbye to one another for the last time until November or December.

Omj... she is just so beautiful... so beautiful it makes me wanna cry <3
Once the love of my life had departed I burst into tears… but I was still as happy as can be because my Princess really was just as wonderful as she had appeared over the Internet. I’ve got me a lifelong partner, and by heck, she’s perfect for me. I love her. Now. And forever.
Enough said

I <3 You Forever Baby
Joy’s going home tomorrow so this is our last day together for a few months. This love is gonna be difficult. But in a few years we’ll be together for as long as we want. With our own house. Wherever we want.
Today, Joy and I are visiting Kate, and Jane will be arriving soon to pick me up and drop us off around Kate’s house. What we’ll be doing there for three hours isn’t entirely clear yet but afterwards Joy’ll be coming back to mine for a couple of hours and then we’ll have to do the difficult thing and say goodbye to one another until November/December.
It’s gonna be painful to do but we’re gonna have to do it. Nevertheless, despite the distance, we’ll still be emotionally close. Our hearts will never leave each other, and we’ll never leave one another’s mind.
Joy’ll be here in about 15 minutes or so, so for now, goodbye. Yes, I’m tearful… but it’ll be okay. I know it will.
